Hi friends !
In the middle of the call and he said “man let me tell you the truth, this is bad and this not good at all ”.I just smiled but inside I could feel the pain and this has been an ongoing issue for two months.I really felt its time to get things fixed again.
After a week today we talked and I was sharing my stats with him.I had moved from spending almost 8 hours on instagram to doing something better with my time and he was smiling and he said “this is good man”.
Sometimes we don’t understand the importance of friendship until its time.l have lessons that I want to share that I learnt from procrastinating for almost two months, but one lesson I can’t take for granted is the importance of good people around you, people who understands where you are going and they are headed the same direction.
Here are the four lessons I learnt from procrastination:
Do not let the string unthread too long:
Like all bad habits it doesn’t start big.It just starts one morning when you feel like, you don’t want to do a task. The next thing you feel bad for skipping the task, finally the day is over and nothing accomplished apart from sitting and scrolling on social media.
The next morning you wake up check the calendar and you have to do the task you should have done yesterday, you feel bad for it.Then another day goes by scrolling on socials, the next thing its a week of procrastination.
“Like all bad habits it doesn’t start big.It starts one morning when you feel like, you don’t want to do it”
By this time its getting harder and harder to start, slowly it becomes part of your daily routine the next time you think of it you are too far and behind the calendar. One lesson I have learnt from this is to cut the string when it’s still short, then you will be able to take control of your time and calendar before it gets too dark to return home.
Procrastination is not health place to be:
One source of stress is not doing what you are ought to do.With procrastination you are always beating yourself up, which leads to overthinking, stress and sleepless nights.I have been here before and I know how it feels, everyday it gets darker and darker. What I learnt from this is that doing things you set to do gives you a health mindset.A health mindset is able to copy, adapt and adjust to different situations without feeling burnout.
Procrastination is part of the work:
During the two months I didn’t only procrastinate, I found time to reflect on myself and ask a lot of questions.I designed the life I want to live, made decisions that I still appreciate today. But all this was spending too much time on the wrong things.
I realised that procrastination can be an advantage and should be included in the plan.It comes with creativity and makes you think deep about things you wouldn’t think when you are living a busy life. And now its part of my work.I now believe its not all about work which takes us to the fourth lesson.
Breakout blocks:
I have been reading a book called The 12 Week Year which l believe is a good recommendation if you want to improve your performance and relationship with work.In the chapter l was reading today it talks about blocking time(strategic block, buffer block and breakout block).Breakout block allows you to find time away from work. And I think I have always been work oriented even when am off work, its something I will be working to improve since it leads to burnout which can yield to procrastination.I now believe one or two hours of break a day can save you months of burnout or procrastination.Taking breaks doesn't only avoid burnout but also it gives you the ability to refresh and reinvent yourself.
“One or two hours of break a day, can save you months of burnout or procrastination”
After these two months I have learnt a lot and I do want to say sometimes in life, our turning points can be times when you feel lost.No matter what tragedy comes whether self imposed or natural, don’t give up on yourself, just keep on looking for the answers and the doors will be opened.
I am now just continuing on this adventure knowing I don’t have the answers but whatever life gives is an opportunity to learn.Do not let procrastination or anything let you off the road. Its part of life, all we can do is to draw lessons from these experiences and act wisely the next day.You are not a procrastinator you are just in a phase of procrastination and always remember to keep the growth mindset.

You saying procrastination can be a good way to block out the work load for a while and catch your breath is a great idea.
How about we agree that "burnout is not a badge of honour," "our races differs," "we should not always try to out work the competition" - low key eye service and "resting from work" is a great way to recharge not necessarily a "positive procrastination."
“One source of stress is not doing what you are ought to do.”
And I find it to be one of the worst kinds of stress to put myself under.
That’s why prioritize my to-do lists by importance and urgency.
