Hi friends!

He said “ There are just a few things we can do five or ten years later that we can’t do now ”, in that moment l gave it a thought and saw how true it was.Happiness is just a state of mind and most of the time we procrastinate about it, the other day l saw this quote:
Stay positive, better days are coming - Unknown
I was very inspired until I asked a question if anticipating for a good day tomorrow necessarily means today is a bad day, which we can all agree its not always true because today can be a better day than yesterday.
I.Delay gratification
The ability to delay gratification over the long term and also being able to enjoy the journey becomes more important as we move and grow.During our mid 20’s we are busy with a lot of stuffs not being able to just focus on self development and delay the instant happiness which over the long period tends to be just a waste of time.
We tend to rationalise happiness, treating happiness as an arithmetic progression when x happens then I will do y forgetting to acknowledge and appreciate what we have and to reward ourselves at the same time.
II.Be grateful
Happiness doesn’t come from other people, from places or things .It comes from within - Unknown
As we set goals and we approach them it doesn’t only become hard to be happy but also to be grateful as we tell ourselves once we get there we will be happy. We fail to be grateful of the small successes and we get stressed and anxious as we compare ourselves to the individuals who are already where we aiming to go.
It doesn’t only become important to be grateful of what ever small success but to enjoy what we are doing. The life we will live ten years from now is just ten times how we are living now, we can use this framework to design a happy and productive life that can scale not only our work and businesses but also the quality of relationships, to try to enjoy the moments with the people we love.
III.Take time to reflect
Everyday I wake up to set goals predefining the life I want to live tomorrow, next month or next year and most of the times I even forget to outline what I look up to on the very day and I know am not the only one here. So how can we design a daily life that can help us enjoy the journey? These are some actionable actions we can try to implement:
Spend time with the people you love - Energy is contagious, you need to surround yourself not only with the people you love but also with people who are vibing with you and have same energy or higher.
Find time to reflect and breathe - Sometimes you have to unplug yourself from the world for a moment so that you can reflect and reset yourself.
Find time to do what you love - Yes to reach our goals we must be willing to do the boring stuffs but we often times forget to do the things we love for an hour or two just to feel good and reinvent ourselves.
Remember happiness also comes from not procrastinating to do the things we know we should do.The small successes through discipline leads to a spiral motivation filled with happiness. The journey is longer than the destination, more time should be focused on enjoying the journey, making sure we stay curious and happy , this is not a one day skill it takes study, reflecting and self awareness and once we start appreciating that we feel good about ourselves and studies show we tend to do more when we feel good “Feel good productivity”.

It reminds me of Brandon Sanderson's quote, "Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination". The way I look at delayed gratification in my life is to remember that the journey is the destination because when you get to that destination (goal, achievement, etc.) you realize there is more to achieve!
Great insight!
